The light chain link mesh

Hello everyone, we're from Fenceshop, and today we want to talk to you about the light and economical version of chain link mesh. This type of mesh is ideal for those looking for a versatile and cost-effective solution for agricultural or residential fences without special requirements. Let's look together at all the technical features and installation tips.

Technical features of the light chain link mesh

This mesh has a link size of 50x50 mm, meaning each diamond measures 50x50 mm. The internal wire has a diameter of 1.8 mm, while the external wire, thanks to plastic coating, reaches 2.5 mm. There are other variants of chain link mesh with larger diameters, such as 2.8 mm, 3.2 mm, and 3.5 mm, which we will cover in other videos.

The mesh is sold in 25-meter rolls and cannot be cut. It is available in five different heights, which you can find indicated in the orange band that appears below in the video.

Recommended uses

This mesh is perfect for agricultural or residential use, especially in wooded areas or uneven terrain. However, it is not suitable for sports applications because its lightness wouldn't withstand the stresses typical of these environments.

Ease of installation

Contrary to what you might think, installing this mesh is not difficult. On a scale from 1 to 5, we can classify it as a grade 3 difficulty. We'll make other videos to show the differences between installing a chain link mesh and an electro-welded mesh. As for the posts, we recommend using economical posts such as T-posts or wooden posts.

Joining two rolls

An interesting aspect of this mesh is how easily two rolls can be joined. Simply open a link from one side to the other and unscrew it to then re-stitch it. This way, the joint will be invisible.

Additional details

When you purchase a roll, you will notice that the mesh has longer folds on the upper side and shorter ones on the lower side. These long points should be positioned at the top to facilitate attachment to the upper tension wire of the fence. Additionally, during the unrolling of the roll, it may seem intertwined with itself, but just dedicating a few minutes to straightening it will suffice.

Final considerations

It's important to know that all meshes, including electro-welded ones, need to be stretched to be installed correctly. This chain link mesh is no exception. Finally, pay attention to the size of the links: a difference of just a few millimeters can affect the roll's weight and its resistance. This light version is economical and suitable for specific uses, but not for sports applications.
